ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE

Energy Performance Certificate in Use

An Energy Performance Certificate is a measure of the energy efficiency of a building. It is mainly used to determine the building quality in terms of energy use. However, used as a complementary tool in the design of building, it allows for an energy efficiency analysis of the different approaches. This will lead to a characterization of the different options, thus enabling the construction of buildings with high energy efficiency rating.

Energy Performance Certificate

An Energy Performance Certificate is mandatory for all new buildings in Spain. Defined by law in Spain's RD 47/2007, this Certificate determines the ability of a building to sustain a low consumption of energy from nonrenewable sources. It measures the insulation capacity of a building envelope (exterior walls, roofing and cladding) and the efficiency of installations including air conditioning, hot water, and lighting systems.
